This is for all the people who are new to blogging. I have just gone through my first month of blogging and I thought that I would share some of my experiences with you. Yes, I am new to this whole blogging world as well.
I have been trained by one of the best bloggers and online entrepreneurs out there, but no matter how much you are trained, there is always going to be struggles when you are first starting out.
I just wanted to share some of my struggles with you as a first time blogger. One of the biggest struggles that I have faced is a struggle that I am sure every blogger has faced at one point in time.
That struggle of content creation. It is funny. I know where to go to get the ideas that I need to create content for my blog, but I always seem to be trying to beat the clock (get as much done before the day is over) and I seem to exclude some of my research ideas because of this.
Now I am not saying that the tactics that I have laid out don’t work, what I am saying is that I need to start practicing what I preach.
Whether you are new to blogging or a person who has been doing it for a while you should always practice the fundamentals of blogging.
Some of these fundamentals include:
- keyword research
- engaging with your social media communities
- Trusting L.S.I.
- Writing for Users an not search engines
- Remembering how to format your blog post
- Keeping yourself focused on your goals
- Incorporating your personality into your blog post
- making your blog post easy to scan
- writing in general
Now did I have trouble with all of these fundamentals. Yes I did. You see, the difference between being trained to blog really well and actually going out and blogging are two different things.
Let me explain. It is like learning how to ride a bike. The concept itself looks very easy. You see people who are doing it all the time. Then you try it for the first time without training wheels.
What happens? You usually fall. You can be shown how to do something over and over again. You can read books on it. You can watch training videos on it.
But until you actually get on that bike and experience it first hand you are just daydreaming of succeeding! Now since I have been trained I have also come to the understanding that my position in the blogging world, which is non-existing at this point, is pretty normal.
I mean, it is only the first month and although I have been working hard there is still a lot that I had to learn this past month on my own. Some of the things that I had to learn was:
- Social media platforms
- Google Adsense
- How to get in front of that camera
- Not to cram everything into one day
- develop a schedule
- Sticking to that schedule
- Becoming more social
- Putting myself out there
These are just some of the things that I have learned in the first month of blogging. Yes, when you are new to blogging there is a lot of distractions out there that can chew up a lot of your online time.
You can become very discouraged and find yourself wondering if it is worth it. Well, you know the old saying “Rome was not build in a day”
The point is, I went into this blogging thing knowing that it will take about four to six months before I start seeing any money from my efforts. That is just a reality that you have to face when you are new to blogging.
Not becoming defeated when you are new to blogging
That is why I thought that I would write this article. I wanted to show people that are new to blogging that you can do it. You can have that work at home lifestyle that you always wanted.
Now I have a distinct advantage here in one aspect because I am disabled and I don’t have to go to work. But, on the other hand I have very little money or resources to actually invest in anything when it comes to my online venture.
So I have to do everything on the cheap. Very Cheap. But for the people who have to work it can be done as well.
My mentor actually was an insurance salesman when he started his online journey. He had to work around his normal work schedule.
He would wake up early in the morning and stay up late at night to work on his website. He even told his wife, “Well sweetie, I will see you in a couple of months.” The point is, this is a man that has four kids, a wife, and they even home school.
It was not like he had a lot of time and yet he succeeded. After he started he was able to quit his job six months later and works full time from home making a nice six figures a year.
That is the dream that we are all trying to achieve here right. To be able to work from the comforts of our own home.
Don’t let anything stand in your way of achieving this dream. I know that I am not going to be discouraged by first month results. Some of the defeating things that you will face when you are new to blogging is:
- Lack of visitors to your site.
- Lack of followers on social media
- learning all the “techie” platforms
- not becoming distracted by everything online.
That last one is a big one. There is a lot of distractions online that can become very time consuming. Before you know it, you have lost a couple of hours just learning the functions of a platform or plugin or online tool.
Remember, everything takes time and it is okay to chew up a little time on learning platforms.
Hope for new bloggers
There is hope for everyone who is new to blogging. You have to remember that everything worth wild takes time to build. Don’t become defeated in the first couple of months.
Keep with it an you will reach your goals. I know that I have a lot to learn still even with my training. Even my mentor is apart of a couple training programs to keep himself educated.
It is an ongoing process that you will get better at. To everyone who is new to blogging keep with it. This is my first month and I want to actually start a podcast explaining the ups and downs of my own journey.
I will also be doing a lot more blogs like this with more detailed information of what it is like to start a blog. I will explain the troubles that I will face in the future and how I have overcome them.
This is about as real as you can get. So for all of you new to blogging keep checking in. I am a month into it now and would love for people to follow me on this awesome journey.Free Training Videos and eBook
